State of the nation
Anyone, no matter what age, ability, race, gender or sexual orientation, could have mental health problems. 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health problem each year. Depression, anxiety and stress are common but mostly left untreated. We may have limited education on how to deal with these difficulties. We may have limited support from others or organisations. We may be affected by society and stigma about mental health.
With Smart CBT professional insight, advice and actions, you take an active role in effectively managing the way you think, act and feel.
Four treatment options
The service is driven by improving access and quality of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a celebrated talking treatment for many mental health disorders, plus other evidence-based treatment options such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness. See the Services page to understand the full range of treatments.
The SMART way
‘Smart’ stands for treatment that is Structured, Measurable, Accessible, Respectful and Together. The most effective therapy is person centred and collaborative – these are the two main principles at the heart of our service.
We value stimulating curiosity and creativity. These are the keys to understanding and transforming our perspectives on our external and internal worlds. Nature opens minds and informs the treatment environment we provide, from our tranquil log cabin to local parks. Why not try our Walking Talking Therapy – it’s perfect for people who feel calmer outside or those that find it easier to think while on the move.
We are a modern and innovative practice. Appointments are available outside the working week to provide treatment that can fit in with your work and family commitments. Without delay, you can choose your location and experiment to find out what works best for you.
